Welcome to Mary Baldwin University! You’ve taken a very important step to further your education and we are glad you’re here!

As you will soon discover, college is a journey in which you will face many academic and personal challenges. This is especially true as you enter a new school. To be successful in your college career, you need to answer a number of important questions: Which academic major should I choose? What courses must I take to fulfill my degree requirements? What career opportunities will I have in my chosen field? How can I juggle the demands of course-work and a job?

Our first year advising team is uniquely positioned to help you find the answer to these and any other questions you may have. In doing so, advisors highlight degree requirements, policies & procedures, campus services, student life, and educational opportunities that extend beyond classroom learning and beyond the receipt of the baccalaureate degree. We can also refer you to other offices on campus that are here to help you make the most of your college career.

One way to get a good start is to have a strong course schedule and to choose a Gateway group that suits your personality and interests and provides you with a supportive network of peers, faculty, and staff members.
