Nancy Howell Agee is the president and CEO of Carilion Clinic, a not-for-profit health care organization with a comprehensive network of hospitals, primary and specialty physician practices, and other services serving nearly 1 million Virginians.
Ms. Agee is recognized nationally as a health care leader and is a member of several boards including the American Hospital Association, where she is chair-elect. She is a former member of The Joint Commission’s Board of Commissioners and past chair of the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association and the Virginia Center for Health Innovation.
Reflecting her life-long passion for higher education, Ms. Agee serves on the boards of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges, the Virginia Business Higher Education Council and the Virginia Tech Foundation. She is a former member of the Board of Visitors for Radford University, appointed by the governor of Virginia.
Ms. Agee also serves on the boards of several publicly traded companies, including Roanoke Gas, HomeTown Bank and Healthcare Realty. She also served on the Taubman Museum of Arts board and is Director Emeritus of Mill Mountain Theatre.
Ms. Agee has received numerous honors throughout her career and is especially proud to have been recognized with the Paladin Award, Carilion’s highest honor for quality and patient safety. She also has been named one of Modern Healthcare’s top 25 women in health care in 2017 and one of 100 most influential people in health care in 2016 as well as one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s 130 women hospital and health system leaders to know in 2016.
