227 Days Until Graduation

95th Founders Day Convocation: Photos and Words

Founders Day 2023

On Oct. 5, students, faculty, staff, families, and guests gathered for the 95th Founders Day Convocation to celebrate the Class of 2024 and their many accomplishments at MBU.

Seniors were honored with words and music, and received their class medallions in the same spot where they’ll graduate in May. After the ceremony, they rang the MBU bell and posed for a class photo.

A time-honored tradition since 1929, Founders Day originated as a celebration of the university’s two founders: Rufus W. Bailey and Mary Julia Baldwin.

Here, we share photos of the occasion, and quotes from student leaders, university president Jeff Stein, and faculty representative Molly Seremet.

“As a proud senior of the Class of 2024, I thought over my time here and have pondered these questions: How did we reach this chapter? How did we overcome these battles? I stand before you with only one answer. Perseverance.

“I encourage all of you to take a moment and think about your ‘why.’ I ask you to do this, because your ‘why’ is one of the most powerful tools that got you through the trials and tribulations of the past three years … That ‘why’ got you here.”

— Gisel Martinez ‘24
