Two performances of Henry 4 with 4 are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2011 and Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Blackfriars Playhouse, 10 S. Market Street, Staunton.

Hal and Falstaff

This is an “extreme casting” production in which the Shakespeare play Henry IV Part I is put on with only a handful of actors. This play contains famously great friendships and a truly powerful marriage at its heart, both of which come under fire as war and duty upend the characters’ lives and the entire country around them. It contains a heartbreaking parable of putting on ill-fitting identities on behalf of others. The idea of putting on various identities is echoed by the fact that only four actors are playing over 20 characters.

See this whirlwind production of one of Shakespeare’s most loved history plays — Henry 4 with 4 — onstage at The Blackfriars Playhouse, October 16th and 17th at 7:30 p.m. This show is in partial fulfillment of Katy Mulvaney and Amanda Noel Allen’s MFA in Shakespeare and Performance with Mary Baldwin University.

Both performances are free and open to the public.
