Mary Baldwin Lands a Spot on Military Friendly List

For doing the most to embrace America’s military personnel and ensure their success on campus, Mary Baldwin University has earned a place on the 2016 Military Friendly Schools list.2016_MFS_Logo_200x200

This year’s lists highlight more than 1,400 Military Friendly Schools exhibiting best practices in support of military students. Institutions of higher learning competed for the title by completing an extensive survey covering 10 indicators of success, including support for student veterans on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, and military spouse policies.

In addition to supporting the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership — the nation’s only all-female corps of cadets — Mary Baldwin, through the Baldwin Online and Adult Programs, offers credit for military training and experience and provides in-state tuition without residency requirements for active-duty military students. Online, weekend, and evening programs lend flexibility.

“Service members, veterans, and their spouses will find that Mary Baldwin provides personalized support and a path to success,” said Mary Baldwin President Pamela Fox. “We are so proud to be listed among institutions that value and serve our military personnel and their families.”

“Those earning the 2016 Military Friendly designation demonstrate a strong connection between classroom learning and career development,” said Daniel Nichols, chief product officer of Victory Media, which conducts the ranking, and Navy Reserve veteran. “They’re moving the needle beyond ‘why recruit military’ to translating military competencies into training and positive employment after graduation.”

This year nearly 400,000 active duty, National Guard and Armed Forces Reserve service members will transition their skills to campuses and companies nationwide.
