- Review the Parent Association Bylaws.
The Mary Baldwin University Parent Council is excited that your student has chosen such an outstanding college to further her education. In just a visit or two, you will see what makes Mary Baldwin such an exceptional place and why being a part of it is not only an amazing experience for her — but for you as well.
What is the Parent Council?
It is a select sub-group of the Parent Association, of which you are now a member. The Association is comprised of all parents of current students in the Mary Baldwin College for Women, inclusive of the Virginia Women’s Institute for Leadership and the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted.
The council supports Mary Baldwin’s goals through exploration of issues, financial support, assistance with student recruitment, and enhancement of communication between the university and the full Parent Association. We support the university’s efforts to provide the best possible learning environment for her students, explore current issues with Mary Baldwin administrators and faculty, and provide feedback and insight.
Parent Council membership is by invitation from the President of Mary Baldwin. Only parents may serve; membership eligibility extends both to parents of current students and parents of Mary Baldwin College for Women alumni who maintain a continuing interest in the university. Parents of alumni may serve for one academic class cycle (four years) after their student’s graduation. The President of the university may waive this limitation.
We meet on the main campus twice a year. The meetings are generally held the first weekend in October during Family Weekend and the third weekend in March.
If you know a parent(s) who would like to serve Mary Baldwin, please nominate them for the Parent Council.
We are happy to speak with any parents of prospective, current, or past students. The Director of Alumni Engagement coordinates the Parent Council and can be reached at 540-887-7007.
